About Christopherpiperwines.co.uk
The company was founded in 1979 by Chris Piper (Chairman) after he worked in Beaujolais as a winemaker in Brouilly. The business was incorporated in 1980 when he was joined by his old friend John Earle (Managing Director). Chairman's plonk is affectionately called that! Over the years, the company had grown into one of the best-known independent wine merchants in the West of England. Its sales and administration offices, retail shop, and distribution warehouse are located in the picturesque town of Ottery St. Mary in Devon, where Christopher Piper Wines employs over 20 people. Yes, Chris still makes wine in Brouilly at Chateau du Pavé every year, and yes, we sell it. A top-quality product backed by top-quality service is still the philosophy with which Chris Piper and John Earle started their business. In addition to supplying top-quality wines to independent hotels, restaurants, and pubs throughout the South of England, they serve a growing number of private customers through mail-order and our Ottery St. Mary retail store. For thier trade customers, they can provide a complete solution, including the creation of fully updateable wine lists in both monochrome and colour, regular weekly deliveries (usually by CPW drivers using our company delivery vehicles), supplier-supported Sales or returns of wine for specific functions and glass loaning for in-house functions.
